We kick off the Fall season with a very special lafcpug meet. No tools tonight, just craft. Join us as we welcome two of the finest editors working in Film and Television, Kevin Tent and Kelley Dixon.
Kevin Tent is best known for his collaboration with director Alexander Payne, having edited such films as About Schmidt, Sideways,Citizen Ruth The Descendents and many many others. Tent has been nominated for three ACE Eddie Awards. In addition he was nominated for an Academy award for Best Film Editing on The Descendents. Tent has also co-directed two films. Kevin will talk about his creative process and there will be time for questions.
Kelley Dixon will be returning to “Breaking Bad” for Season Five after having a great year working on the HBO pilot “Luck” and the Showtime series “Shameless”.
Kelley has been nominated twice by the American Cinema Editors (A.C.E.) for Season 3 and Season 4 of "Breaking Bad" and has recently been nominated for a Prime Time Emmy for Breaking Bad's Season Four Episode "End Times". Kelley will talk about the creative process, in particular, editing Breaking Bad. There will be time for questions.
Plus another round of Stump The Gurus and of course, World Famous Raffle.

Join Gurus Andrew Balis, Philip Hodgetts and Steve Kanter as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.
7:15PM - 7:20PM - Welcome
We won't have time for announcemnets as we want to give as much time as we can to our guests. I also want to update everyone on the new projector and discuss ways to raise money to buy it.

About Kevin Tent
KEVIN TENT (Film Editor) has teamed with director Alexander Payne for over fifteen years. Their first collaboration was on Citizen Ruth, staring Laura Dern. That was followed byELECTION, which earned Kevin his first A.C.E. Eddie nomination, ABOUT SCHMIDT, which earned him his second and SIDEWAYS in 2004 which earned him his third. Their most recent collaboration is on THE DESCENDANTS a family drama starring George Clooney. Tent was nominated by both A.C.E. and the Academy for his editing on The Descendants. He won theEddie for best dramatic film of 2011.
Tent began his career at Roger Corman's New Horizons Studio, located in Venice, CA where he cut countless classics such as NOT OF THIS EARTH and HOLLYWOOD BLVD. II.
Some of his early credits include HOMAGE, a 1996 Sundance Festival premiere, the independent and underground hitGUNCRAZY directed by Tamara Davis, and SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE directed by David Schwimmer. Other editing credits include Pieter Jan Brugge's psychological kidnapping drama THE CLEARING starring Robert Redford, Helen Mirren and Willem Dafoe, the late Ted Demme's drug epic BLOW, starring Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz and James Mangold's GIRL INTERRUPTED starring Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie. He has worked on a number of projects with Barry Sonnenfeld including RV, a family comedy starring Robin Williams.
He was also an additional editor on VALENTINE'S DAY for director Gary Marshall. TAKE ME HOME TONIGHT starring Topher Grace. THE GOODS: LIVE HARD, SELL HARD starring Jeremy Piven, FACTORY GIRL starring Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce and MONSTER IN LAW starring Jane Fonda, Jennifer Lopez.
Kevin Tent was also the editor on FRANKENHOOKER.
8:30PM - 9:00PM - Break
In the lobby will be many FCP, Avid and Premiere Gurus. This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. Also in the lobby will be Tery Williams and Christina Oliver from brand new lafcpug Platinum SponsorAJA. Also, brand new lafcpug sponsor, Hot Pixel Post will be there to answer all your post production questions. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lafcpug. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.

Kelley Dixon wil talk about the creative process that goes into editing the hit AMC TV series “Breaking Bad”. There will be time for questions.
About Kelley Dixon
Kelley Dixon is glad to be returning to “Breaking Bad” for Season Five after having a great year working on the HBO pilot “Luck” and the Showtime series “Shameless”.
Kelley has been nominated twice by the American Cinema Editors (A.C.E. ) for Season 3 and Season 4 of "Breaking Bad" and has recently been nominated for a Prime Time Emmy for BB's Season Four Episode "End Times".
Kelley grew up in Chicago, Illinois and got a degree in journalism at Colorado State University. She originally had her sights on writing for advertising but got a job in the mailroom at MGM Studios soon after graduating.
After working as a Production Assistant and an Assistant Editor on Features and Television for 17 years, Kelley landed an editing position on Season One of "Breaking Bad."
